Your lavish brick and mortar office space will soon be converged with a digital replica in the Metaverse. This might have been fancy a couple of years back and outright overkill, however emerging tech in Web3.0 and the Metaverse, coupled by our forced digital existence in the post pandemic world has paved the way for an entirely unique workplace. Most IT giants are betting big on the Metaverse workplace ecosystem, including Accenture. The Irish IT behemoth is transcending into the virtual world by onboarding 150,000 new hirelings via Metaverse! The new employees will spend Day1 at the Nth floorof the Metaverse Campus of the company!
Few employees took to the socials and shared their experience
The company has created ‘digital duplicates’ of physical offices from B’lore to Madrid and San Fran. in the Nth floor Metaverse, a virtual campus called One Accenture Park will help new employees connect with each other.
This might sound sooper exciting for many, however methinks these are hooman guinea for the IT giants. No one knows for sure how long you can work in a virtual workplace with headgears mounted, transfixed gaze into the screen with shoddy avatars (yeah yeah work in progress. . .i know). Not to dismiss the virtual workspace, but it has gotta go a long way to evolve into something that would actually be considered healthy and beneficial for the community at large. The learning curve in itself is huge. Accenture’s report states, the majority (70%) of the learners tend to forget training stuff within a day. And almost all (90%) forget within a month!
In a recent interview with the Harvard Business Review, Julie Sweet, the CEO of Accenture laid out the fundamentals for a new world of work!
